He was, indeed, associated with Burne-Jones— somewhat of a 2nd wave of the Pre-Raphaelites. I have recently become very interested in that movement, their origins and evolutionary influence on the golden age of illustration, ala Walter Crane and others.

Yes, yes, it's true. So many of the Pre-Raphaelites found an ideal face for their sensibilities and proceeded to use that same face over and over, painting after painting. Actually, many artists and cartoonists do that, but are a little more subtle in how they pull it off.
